Julie Kalceff’s FIRST DAY Selected for “Day of the Girl”

First Day, written and directed by Julie Kalceff (Starting From Now) has been selected as one of five projects for ABC ME’s GIRLS initiative – a suite of fantastic new productions celebrating the United Nations International Day of the Girl.

First Day tells a story about the fears associated with the transition between primary school and high school – but in Hannah’s case, the stakes are even higher: this year, she will be attending school for the first time as a girl.

The film stars fantastic newcomer Evie Macdonald as Hannah, Joanne Hunt and Steve Rodgers as her parents, Amanda and Steve, and Anthony Brandon Wong as school principal Mr. Nguyen.

Shot in Sydney over a week in early July, First Day will premiere on the 11th of October as part of the ‘Girls’ season on ABC ME.
